Who should be approached?

1. The GDC: At present the public are not protected against the the non-dental practitioners who provide unsupervised, non evidence based materials for tooth whitening treatments and give inappropriate advice
   
   The GDC states that only registered dentists are permitted to carry out tooth whitening procedures. Should GDC be made aware of anyone who is not a dentist, undertaking tooth whitening, the GDC will prosecute them. The GDC also stated that they have received surprisingly little complaints about tooth whitening from the general public.
   
   Should dentists advise their patients who have sought alternative tooth whitening to inform the GDC?
2. The BDA: to encouraged to be more proactive in their efforts to legalise tooth whitening in UK.
